Built over the old rainwater cistern, which is why it is the coolest room in the house and the darkest. Sykiá

The only room on the ground floor and the only one that takes a dog. Its door is two metres from the breakfast table, which suits people who get up early and suits nobody who does not.Το μόνο δωμάτιο στο ισόγειο και το μόνο που δέχεται σκύλο. Η πόρτα του απέχει δύο μέτρα από το τραπέζι του πρωινού — βολεύει όσους ξυπνούν νωρίς, και κανέναν άλλο.Das einzige Zimmer im Erdgeschoss und das einzige, in dem ein Hund erlaubt ist. Seine Tür liegt zwei Meter vom Frühstückstisch — gut für Frühaufsteher, für sonst niemanden.

First floor, west corner, named for the ship’s lantern that hung over the door until 1974 and now hangs in the hall. Between seven and eight in the evening the room turns the colour of the wall outside.Πρώτος όροφος, δυτική γωνία. Ανάμεσα στις εφτά και τις οχτώ το δωμάτιο παίρνει το χρώμα του τοίχου απ’ έξω.Erster Stock, Westecke, benannt nach der Schiffslaterne, die bis 1974 über der Tür hing und jetzt im Flur hängt. Zwischen sieben und acht abends nimmt das Zimmer die Farbe der Mauer draußen an.

The arch was the door the mules came through when this floor was the store. It was walled to the waist and glazed in 1998. From the terrace you can see the first ferry come round the point at about ten past seven.Η καμάρα ήταν η πόρτα απ’ όπου έμπαιναν τα μουλάρια, όταν αυτός ο όροφος ήταν αποθήκη. Χτίστηκε ως τη μέση και τζαμώθηκε το 1998. Από τη βεράντα βλέπεις το πρώτο πλοίο να στρίβει τον κάβο κατά τις εφτά και δέκα.Der Bogen war das Tor, durch das die Maultiere kamen, als dieses Geschoss noch Lager war. 1998 halbhoch zugemauert und verglast. Von der Terrasse sieht man die erste Fähre gegen zehn nach sieben um das Kap kommen.

The top of the house, with a second small room off it for children and the roof terrace beyond. In August it is the last room to go and the first thing anybody asks about. Four adults will not be comfortable in it and we will say so.Η κορυφή του σπιτιού, με ένα δεύτερο μικρό δωμάτιο για παιδιά και την ταράτσα παραπέρα. Τον Αύγουστο είναι το τελευταίο που μένει και το πρώτο που ρωτάνε. Τέσσερις ενήλικες δεν θα βολευτούν, και θα σας το πούμε.Das Oberste des Hauses, mit einem zweiten kleinen Zimmer für Kinder und der Dachterrasse dahinter. Im August ist es das letzte freie Zimmer und das erste, nach dem gefragt wird. Vier Erwachsene werden darin nicht bequem liegen — und das sagen wir auch.
